Archive (approximately 1200 images at present)
People in cellars take pictures of their surroundings and publish them on the Internet. I collect these pictures.
Internet search engines invite the possibility of writing a word and to view images that correspond to that entry online. This archive is the result of trawling the Internet with a single word and harvesting the images that emerge. The word 'cellar' was translated into several languages to build an archive of over 1000 samples - and counting.
Specimens in the archive depict anything from the eerie glow of garden furniture under strip-lights to clear evidence of original fantasies taking place – a mingling of the ordinary and the fantastic. Houses slide up and down the entropy gradient in a blizzard of geometric configurations – a flood tide of construction and an ebb tide of decay.
